So we did the photoshoot for the cover-story with the guys of Slaughterhouse up in Astoria a few weeks ago. They were shooting the video for Move On, so me, Rob and the writer Mike Cohen spent the day up there with the new Fab Four.

It’s a good day when two dudes from the supergroup Slaughterhouse each drop a track. Budden’s is the first leak from Padded Room and Joell’s is off the upcoming Free Agent mixtape. Enjoy.

Here’s some of the news from the weekend. The Pittsburgh Steelers pulled out a pretty amazing win over the Arizona Cardinals to become the Super Bowl Champions. Joell Ortiz stopped through Philadelphia to do a show at The Fire on Girard Ave. Click here to check out the video from that.  DMX got sentenced to 90 days in jail for his little dog fiasco.  He’s been locked down since December, and wasn’t given credit for time served. The BBC has a short story about it here.  Word popped up that Curren$y was getting ready to drop a new mixtape, you can listen to snippets of it here.  An interesting Jim Jones interview was released on Polk DVD (Part 1, Part 2) with him addressing the rumors surrounding him and the Dips.

The collective of Joe Budden, Royce Da 5′9″, Joell Ortiz, and Crooked I has taken the name Slaughterhouse, and rightfully so. Show me four emcees these days who consistently drop more dope material than these guys.

Slaughterhouse - Onslaught

Big Shout Out to Stacy Lynch and A.R. from the Mixtape Awards for organizing this event!!! The showcase that was held at Public Assembly on 10/22 featured a slew of artists who have been making noise on the mixtape circuit. Some brand new, some seasoned vets made a good mix for the night. Performances ranged from mediocre to excellent. Among the night’s brightest performances were from AG, Joell Ortiz, Sic Osyrus and newcomer Charles Hamilton. Photos inside. (more…)
