The New York Times on the 50 v. Ross beef

Wow. This is kind of crazy. I have to say I have been so swampped and overwhelmed, that I have been out of the loop. This beef kind of bores me, so I don’t exactly have my finger on the pulse. Oh well.

Thankfully for rap fans/magazine owners like myself, the NYT provided some oh-so-helpful charts and graphics.

Wowww…

Rob thought it was stupid. No fucking way. He said I was on Fif’s dick. No fucking way. I would have had the same reaction if the situation was reversed and Khaled had done that to 50’s fam. Picture two random dudes, not even rappers, who got beef. And one dude gets his people to videotape the other dude’s mama’s house. Or her job. Or inside her job. That’s some shit right there.

Word is it is a result of some Photoshop-fuckery Khaled’s team did with pics of 50’s son.

Nowadays, everyone wants to keep shit on wax. Just talk a bunch of bullshit bravado on tracks, go back and forth, we automatically discount 75% of the rah-rah and threats that are being made. But this one seems to be going to some dark places…

Update:
From Eskay over at NahRight, the above mentioned pic.

Can’t Knock the Hustle: Special Online Edition

If you’ve ever read our publication, you might be familiar with the Can’t Knock the Hustle section, which is sort of our special homage to those who are REALLY making moves. We had to come with a special online edition about Tia, Rick Ross’s baby’s moms. Even though our plural possesives in the previous sentence probably weren’t correct, our alliterationary allusions are always on point. Getting back to Tia, we definitely can’t knock her hustle. If you haven’t seen the videos or listened to any of the various interviews/radio shows, this is some classic shit in the making. Foregoing the now-defunct trend of delivering beef records on wax, 50 Cent elevates the rap battle to a whole new form in this digital age. To that effect, he does a mock interview of Tia, which I fast forwarded through, then took her shopping. And there comes the greatest moment of the video: the marriage of Stevie Wonder’s Isn’t She Lovely with Tia spinning through some store with a nice fur on. This comes right after the second greatest moment of the video, in which 50 alleges that Rick’s mom looks like the Nutty Professor.  After fur shopping they proceed to Gucci, and 50 presumably buys her whatever she wants.

Tia is definitely out here, gettin this money, holding it down, gettin whats hers by any means possible, and for that, we Can’t Knock the Hustle. For real. Forget corporate greed, ballooning executive bonuses on Wall St., the current economic crisis, the wars we’re fighting overseas, fuck all that. When in doubt, take your grievance public and get the fuck paid! Or at least get a fur out of it.

Even though we felt a little bad about this, because we lovingly skewered Rick Ross (no homo) in the last print issue of Foundation Magazine, sometimes you just can’t keep quiet about these things. And so when it all started hitting the internet yesterday/last night/this morning (who keeps track of this dumb shit anyway besides all the blog fuckers who feel compelled to post “first”), we really didn’t pay much attention. Besides, 50 is known for publicity stunts anyway. This shit is too classic to pass up though, so we’ll gladly join the legions of other blogger fucks who are making this into the news of the century.

Issue #7

gunitcover_foundation5jp

For our 7th issue, Mike Cohen spent some quality time with 50 Cent, Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks. The resulting story, The Unit, is a must-read for 50 fans. Mike also got up with G-Unit’s legendary DJ Whookid to talk about the life of an international jetset DJ. Chris Malo’s controversial interview with Lil Wayne, where Wayne dis-misses mixtape DJs with a big “fuck you!” stirred up the hip-hop world. Mikey Fresh and Clinton Sparks talked about having a plan for success and Spark’s own experiences in the industry. Nu Jerzey Devil talks with Phillip Mlynar about coming up in the game alongside Game, and his style of crafting hit records.
