Papoose - 21 Gun Salute

papoose_21_gun_salute-front-large

Papoose is back with 22 tracks of new music. I remember a few year’s ago I was sitting with some of my homies and we were playing poker and I was arguing back and forth with a few of them about how Papoose was dumb nice lyrically, which he was. He lit us on fire with mixtape heat in 2006, all year long. Since then? Not so much. Had the fortunate 1.5 million dollar deal with Jive that turned out to be unfortunate. A record deal gone wrong and noticeably forced singles killed his buzz. While this mixtape has a few heaters on it, overall it leaves me wishing someone would bring Pap back. DJ Roberob produced “Hat under my hood” which Pap flows over nicely, but the beat outshines the bars. Dirty York shit is a great east coast grimy beat produced by TY Sticks that Pap flows over the way we like hearing him flow spitting heat rock. Track 10, “All That” is just simply horrible. It’s as if  he was TRYING to make a bad record. Unfortunately it does not look like this mixtape is gonna bring Pap back.
