DJ Delz v. Fullblast Entertainment/ DJay Tiger: Twin Ghost (In)Xperience

So I went to the PO today to check out the mailbox. Get home, opening all the packages and I see a mixtape from Fullblast Entertainment and DJay Tiger called “Twin Ghost Xperience,” with tracks from Ghostface and Styles P.

Hmmmm… Sounded familiar. That’s because DJ Delz dropped a mixtape of the same title, with the same artists. Over a year ago.

The name is actually a reference from a line from a Styles P track called ‘Star of the State’ featuring Ghostface, off Styles’ “Super Gangster, Extraordinary Gentleman” CD.

Now just like books, you can’t judge a mixtape by it’s cover. Shit. Some of the best and most classic mixtapes have xerox copies of word processor tracklistings in their cassette casing.

But the difference is that while DJay Tiger’s and Delz’s tracklistings have some similarities, there is no comparison. Delz’s joint stays in, and in rotation, in the Foundation Mag truck. Between the mixes and blends, it’s a solid tape, with two of my personal favorites, that are the result of a creative process.

I’m not saying Tiger bit off of Delz concept. At worst he did. It won’t be the first time a mixtape DJ bites off another mixtape DJ. At best, it’s a classic example of the difference between another mixtape, one of the thousands that come and, and one that seperates themselves from the rest because of quaility, creativity and execution. And stays in roation, banging in the truck over a year after it drops.
